Insikt Jobtech: new industry report from Swedish JobTech

Today, we at Swedish JobTech released our very first industry report on the jobtech market in Sweden, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of the team behind it. Swedish JobTech is a non-profit industry association that brings together organizations, startups, and individuals working to improve how Sweden’s labor market functions through technology. Our focus is on solutions that help people find meaningful work, support employers in meeting their needs, and foster innovation in the jobtech space.

Our report, Insikt JobTech, takes a close look at the challenges and opportunities facing Sweden’s labor market. With record-high unemployment, an increasing demand for specialized skills, and a global shift in how we work, there’s a lot to address. But the good news? There’s also immense potential for change, especially with the help of AI and jobtech innovations.

What’s Inside the Report?

In Insikt JobTech, we discuss:

  • The role of data in solving job market challenges: Better access to open, standardized data is critical for matching job seekers with opportunities more efficiently.
  • AI as a transformative tool: From improving job matching to enabling lifelong learning, AI has the potential to reshape the labor market in profound ways.
  • The importance of competence development: Lifelong learning isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a necessity for ensuring that workers can adapt to a rapidly changing world of work.
  • Collaboration is key: Public and private sectors need to work together to build the infrastructure and tools that will make all of this possible.

One of the most important takeaways from the report is the need for action. We can’t afford to stay in silos or wait for the perfect solution. Instead, we need to focus on using the tools and resources already available to start making progress today.

Thank you to everyone for contributing with your perspectives in the report! And to Olle Lundin and Lars Sjöström for heading Swedish JobTech. A big thank you also to Jonas Södergren (Arbetsförmedlingen), Anna Carlsson (HR Digi) and Max Thormé (Talendary) for taking part in today’s panel where we discussed findings in the report and how tech, data and AI together with a human approach can help shape the labour market going forward.

Insikt JobTech aligns closely with the findings from yesterday’s AI-Kommissionen report, Färdplan för Sverige, which highlighted the urgent need to strengthen Sweden’s AI capabilities and create a more cohesive data infrastructure. Both reports emphasize the transformative potential of AI, not just as a tool for automation but as a driver for better job matching, improved competence development, and greater inclusion in the labor market. With AI-Kommissionen’s call for action and our industry report’s practical insights, it’s clear that now is the time to act decisively to shape a labor market that works for everyone.
