Upskilling and Reskilling for Freelancers

Write down what a day in your life in five years time will look like. Now, what do you need to get there? That was one of the tips that my freelance colleague and partner Rasmus Solholm shared this morning on how to set a personal upskilling strategy for oneself. Another full house as we hosted our third Freelance Mornings at The Park Södra, this time focusing on upskilling and reskilling for freelancers. The panel consisted of the amazing Katarina Strömberg (Facilitator / Consultant), Johan Åberg (Founder Next State) and Monica Avby-Strahm (LinkedIn).

Some key take-aways from the discussions on-stage and off-stage:

  • Soft skills are just as important as hard skills when upskilling. Creativity, problem solving, analytical thinking are must have skills today and tomorrow.
  • Be kind! Be kind to others and others will be kind to you. Care for your network and they will be your biggest supporters.
  • ‍ Focus more of your time on sales and marketing. That way you can reach your dream clients, make a bigger impact and earn more money. Dare to rethink your working model, and to work less with boring gigs.
  • Yes we need to know AI. Yes we need to keep on top of technological trends. We however don’t have to be experts in everything. But at least we need to be curious to explore and learn more.
  • ⏰ Make time for learning in your schedule. One or two hours a week. Make a real commitment in time to upskilling and exploring new skills.

Thank you to everyone for joining us this morning! There really is something special with meeting face to face with others to explore the small and big questions here in life. Maybe especially for us freelancers. Now looking forward to a full day of joint co-working ahead!
