On International Women’s Day, I found myself building in public at Lovable HQ. As part of the SheBuilds event, I launched Digital Fika, a simple concept designed to help people connect with someone new, somewhere in the world, over a casual digital coffee.
The idea is based on a simple truth. Sometimes the most unexpected connections turn out to be the most valuable. Digital Fika makes that easier to act on. You sign up, get matched with a stranger, and jump on a 20-minute call. No agenda, no expectations, just a conversation.
People from 13 different countries already doing fika
Less than 24 hours after pitching the idea on stage at Lovable, people had already started connecting. Someone in India joined a call with someone in Canada. Spain connected with the United States. Australia with Sweden. Conversations began to happen across time zones and contexts, all built around a simple format of showing up for a short, informal exchange.
A week after launch, people from 13 different countries had signed up to try Digital Fika. Short conversations were taking place across the globe, and what stood out was how natural they felt. In one of my own sessions, I was matched with someone based in Stockholm. We both work in marketing and are exploring how to use AI in smarter ways, yet we had never met before. In just 20 minutes, we moved between topics like cultural differences in marketing across Sweden, Japan and the UAE, what it is like to run your own company, and why behind-the-scenes content is becoming more important in the AI era.

Bringing an idea to life with the help of AI
Being able to ideate, build and launch something like this in a single day still feels remarkable. With vibe coding tools like Lovable, the distance between idea and execution has dramatically shortened. When anyone with a clear idea can bring it to life so quickly, it opens up entirely new possibilities for how we create, test and learn.
Back to basics. Believing in a simple idea, and a simple function, and making it work. I’ve been vibe coding for nine months now and that is a clear take-away I brought with me into the creation of Digital Fika. Don’t overcomplicate it.
The simplicity of the Digital Fika format does seem to be part of its strength. There is no pressure to perform or achieve something specific. Instead, the app creates space for a conversation that can go in any direction. In a digital environment often shaped by quick interactions and shallow engagement, that kind of space feels increasingly valuable.
Building in public – please join the movement
Digital Fika is still very much an early experiment, built and shared in public. The ambition is not to overcomplicate it, but to see how far a simple idea can go when people are open to meeting someone new. If you are curious, you can try it here: https://digitalfika.lovable.app/
Feedback is very welcome, as the project continues to evolve in real time.
At its core, Digital Fika is about making it easier to connect. Not through structured networking, but through small, human moments of conversation. And sometimes, that is exactly where something meaningful begins.
