How can VR/AR/XR inspire children and young people to pursue studies and careers in tech?
I am excited to announce that I am starting a new project as digital strategist for Region Sörmland, working on the concept Modda Sörmland – Sweden’s first digi-physical science center. The concept combines physical and digital activities with the help of Extended Reality (XR) to encourage more young people to pursue education in technology, science, and math.
It’s a known fact that Sweden faces a shortage of tech competence and talent. Studies show that interest in technology decreases around middle school age. Therefore, Region Sörmland aims to integrate VR/AR/XR into primary school education to maintain children’s interest in technology. To allow children to experience their lessons in an immersive reality – as a complement to reading about concepts in textbooks. When we experience something, we remember it in a different way. The impact is bigger. This is where XR can contribute unique opportunities to schools.
My mission is to continue working on the platform and spread knowledge about it nationally. And also to find different types of forums and collaboration partners to take the content and concept to more classrooms across Sweden.
What are your thoughts on learning and VR/AR/XR? Is it a way to secure interest and tech competence? How can we do it? I would love to discuss synergies and collaborations – so please get in touch! “
